Why did you want to get involved with Venture for Canada?
When Scott first approached me about Venture for Canada in 2014, it was clear to me that what he was building would benefit the young Canadians by providing experiential learning opportunities and training which is an opportunity that I would have welcomed when I was younger. Having been an entrepreneur for over 25 years, access to young, energetic, talent that has been vetted and put through a training program which equips them with the skills of the future helps mitigate the time, effort, and expense in trying to recruit for various roles. Furthermore, the Canadian economy as a whole would benefit as these young folks would hopefully go on to create their own businesses in the future — creating jobs and economic impact for years to come.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
“Learning to deal with difficult people is a skill.” This advice is key as it is easy to avoid difficult conversations and people but the issues won’t resolve themselves.
