Steven Wang

Steven grew up in Cambridge, Ontario, after immigrating to Canada with his family at the age of nine. From an early age, he saw how education, mentorship, and community could transform lives — a belief that has guided his career. He has built programs that support young leaders, worked with social enterprises, and taught global affairs and artificial intelligence at Harvard Law School and the University of Toronto.

Before joining VFC, Steven practiced corporate law in New York and Toronto, focusing on cross-border innovation and technology. Earlier in his career, he founded a social enterprise in Asia, supported by the Gates Foundation, that developed the next generation of talent for the social sector.

He has also stayed deeply connected to Canada’s innovation and policy ecosystem through board service with the Canadian International Council and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, and as a David Rockefeller Fellow of the Trilateral Commission. Steven is a graduate of University of Toronto, Harvard Law School, and Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.

Outside of work, Steven is an avid traveler who enjoys exploring new places, diving into philosophical conversations, and spending time at concerts, museums, and film screenings, with the occasional karaoke night thrown in. He is excited to bring his experiences to Venture for Canada, working with staff, alumni, and partners to expand opportunities for young Canadians and help startups and SMEs thrive in an age of technological transformation.
